once upon a win

Submitted by Valentine B, who always has an extra banana

Those Geico cavemen are still trying to capitalize on the success of this movie, but you can’t make magic twice.

You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!

Fun fact: Heston had to fight for that line. They didn’t want him to say “God damn…” (oddly, “God” and “damn” are ok separately, but put together, they still sometimes get censored on tv). He pointed out that Taylor was being literal; he was actually asking God to damn the human race (a bit late, given the events of them movie, but…). For some reason, if you mean something literally, you’re often allowed to say it (since it’s not just meaningless swearing, I guess?). For example, the word “hell” has been allowed in kids programming and movies a few times (like in “Sleeping Beauty”, Maleficent’s “Now you shall deal with me, and all the powers of Hell!”) if the person saying it is actually referring to the place and not just saying,”Oh, hell…” because they’re mad or something. It’s kind of weird, but I can see the thinking behind it.
      /cool story, sis

EPIC FAIL for video cover design!
Why would they put this epic surprise ending on THE COVER of the video?!?!
Seriously! That decision is an EPIC FAIL! It’s like putting a photo of Rosebud (or, whatever Rosebud refers to) on the cover of the Citizen Kane video. C’mon people!

You make a good point, though by now it is kind of hard to avoid learning how the movie ends before you see it, since the ending is so frequently referenced in pop culture. It’s tough to cry “spoiler!” when the movie in question is decades old, but I agree that it’s kind of odd for the movie to give away the ending on its own cover.

    just an avg movie….

  4. Seams an odd ending but still ok…
