Nov. 3, 2009

clairol

Submitted and Written by Melanie H, a division of Procter & Gamble

Every 70′s and 80′s teenage girl had one of these! You could change the light setting to day, office, evening and home so you could see what your face would look like in different lighting.

(Sorry that’s not the full video — embedding disabled by request (who does that?). Anyway, watch the full thing on YouTube.)

Whoa, MC Hammer! [INSERT JOKE ABOUT PARACHUTE PANTS HERE]. I mean, right? Those were ridiculous. But not as ridiculous as the spandex. {INSERT JOKE ABOUT SPANDEX HERE]

Epic Win: Jelly Shoes

Sep. 21, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by Diana L

Jellies became popular after World War II when there was a leather shortage, but made a big comeback in the ’80s. Back then, you could get Jelly Shoes for a buck. Maybe they looked cool, maybe they didn’t, but could you ever buy Crocs for a dollar? I think not.

Epic Win: Headbangers Ball

Jul. 14, 2009

Submitted by Melanie H

Music Videos on MTV deserve a Win for nostalgia by themselves, but then you throw in metal and it becomes Epic. Why’d you love The Ball? Who was your favorite artist that you discovered during the wee-hours that Headbangers Ball broadcast?

Epic Win: The Breakfast Club

May. 29, 2009

Submitted by just Vicki

“Don’t mess with the bull young man, you’ll get the horns.”

Sixteen Candles was more of a girly flick, but The Breakfast Club could be appreciated by both genders. There was a little something for everyone to appreciate about this movie. Of all the John Hughes movies this one was the most accessible to the largest audience. It also seems like this was the one most frequently played on television on Saturday afternoons.

“Could you describe the ruckus sir?”
